Diwali - the festival of light is regarded as the most important festival celebrated by people from India. It is an ancient Hindu festival that is celebrated over the span of 5 days. This year (2018) it is being celebrated starting Nov 5th with Nov 7th as the main Diwali Day. It spiritually signifies the victory of light over darkness, good over evil, knowledge over ignorance, and hope over despair. Its celebration includes millions of lights shining on housetops, outside doors and windows, in the communities and countries where it is observed. The festival creates a magical and radiant effect in the atmosphere. Everybody is in a joy and festive mood.
The exchange of sweets and the explosion of fireworks customarily accompany the celebration of the festival. Diwali is an occasion for cheerfulness and togetherness. This is that time of the year when people of all age take part in its celebration. Diwali also is the beginning of New Year for a lot of communities and businesses in India.
